Gategroup has made a strategic move by acquiring a significant stake in KLM Catering Services, aiming to enhance inflight catering at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
Gategroup, a prominent player in airline catering and hospitality, has recently announced a strategic partnership with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines by acquiring a 75% stake in KLM Catering Services. KLM will retain a 25% stake, enabling it to focus on core airline operations while committing to the longevity of the partnership. This collaboration is designed to reshape inflight catering at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
The agreement includes Gategroup’s investment in a new flagship catering facility at Schiphol, integrating cutting-edge automation and sustainability standards. This initiative aims to establish a global benchmark in the industry and to enhance the onboard experience for KLM passengers through culinary innovation and operational reliability. KCS will continue functioning independently, preserving its cultural links with KLM to ensure uninterrupted service continuity.
Herman Anbeek, President Europe at Gategroup, expressed, “This partnership with KLM marks a significant advancement for our business in Europe. Together, we will keep enhancing performance, reliability, and the overall customer experience.” Meanwhile, Bas Brouns, CFO of KLM, stated, “We are delighted to have discovered a robust and specialized partner in Gategroup. We will remain engaged in the catering of our flights, ensuring the quality and service our passengers have come to expect from KLM.”
This partnership emphasizes a dedication to innovation and sustainability, pledging a unique onboard experience while maintaining KCS’s operational autonomy. The new facility is expected to reinforce this goal by leveraging Gategroup’s expertise to elevate KLM’s catering services.
