A Qatar Airways diplomatic flight arrived in Damascus on December 23, 2024, signifying the first international flight from Qatar to reach the Syrian capital’s airport since the fall of Bashar Al-Assad’s regime. This was reported in The Peninsula.

Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al-Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed the arrival of HE Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, the Minister of State, who led a high-level official Qatari delegation to Damascus. Al-Ansari noted on his X social media account that this delegation aims to engage in a series of meetings with Syrian officials, reaffirming Qatar’s steadfast support for Syria.
