Singapore Sees 21% Rise in International Visitor Arrivals Compared to 2023

In 2024, Singapore experienced a significant increase in international arrivals, marking a substantial recovery in its tourism sector.

Singapore’s tourism sector has shown robust growth, with international visitor arrivals increasing by 21% compared to 2023, reaching 16.5 million. This surge reflects strong demand and improved tourist experiences.

2024 Tourism Performance

Tourism receipts are estimated to reach $22.4 billion between January and September 2024, marking a 10% increase from the same period in 2023. Key spending categories included Sightseeing, Entertainment & Gaming, and Accommodation.

Melissa Ow, Chief Executive of the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), stated:
“In 2024, Singapore’s tourism sector posted a strong performance, affirming the industry’s efforts in refreshing our products and experiences.”

Main market contributors included Mainland China, Indonesia, and Australia, highlighting a diverse tourist demographic, while governmental policy changes, such as the 30-day mutual visa exemption with Mainland China, supported growth.

The rise in visitors also led to a competitive hotel sector, with average room rates and occupancy rates improving year-on-year. New hotel openings added 1,421 keys in 2024, enhancing Singapore’s hospitality landscape.
