
The Cathay Group recently reported a significant achievement, announcing that it has carried over 100,000 passengers in one day, a record for the organization since its recovery efforts began. On 15th December, the combined total for the Group’s airlines, Cathay Pacific and HK Express, reached 100,856 passengers.
This milestone was achieved during the peak travel season, with the Group exceeding the 100,000-passenger mark on eight separate occasions during the year-end travel surge that concluded on 31 December 2024.
CEO’s Statement
Ronald Lam, the CEO of Cathay Group, expressed his excitement about finishing 2024 on such a positive note. He remarked:

Lam also praised the efforts of the Group’s global frontline teams during the busy holiday travel period, ensuring customers had smooth journeys to new destinations or reunions with family.
Future Plans
Cathay Pacific plans to reintroduce its seasonal service to Cairns, Australia and will launch several long-haul routes in 2025, including Hyderabad in India and cities like Dallas, Munich, and Brussels in Europe. Additionally, HK Express has recently added Shizuoka, Japan to its network and will soon introduce service to Sendai.
In total, the two airlines are projected to operate passenger services to 100 destinations globally by 2025. With the completion of the Three-Runway System, Hong Kong is entering a new era in aviation, where Cathay aims to support the city’s status as a leading international hub.
