Cebu Pacific concluded 2024 positively with the addition of a new Airbus A321neo, marking its 17th delivery within the year. The latest addition arrived on December 24 and further solidifies Cebu Pacific’s status as a top player in the Philippine aviation sector.
This newly acquired 236-seater aircraft has expanded CEB’s commercial fleet to a total of 91 planes, a fitting closure to a year characterized by increased operational capacity and a broadened route network.
Cebu Pacific’s President and Chief Commercial Officer, Xander Lao, stated: “The arrival of this new aircraft reinforces our readiness to meet the rising travel demand and our commitment to enhancing connectivity for our passengers in 2025 and beyond.”
The airline operates a notably youthful fleet with 10 Airbus A330s, 40 Airbus A320s, 26 Airbus A321s, and 15 ATR turboprop aircraft. This varied fleet facilitates the company’s expansive network coverage throughout the Philippines.
A Greener Alternative
The Airbus NEO (New Engine Option) series is celebrated for its environmental performance, consuming 15% less fuel and producing less noise compared to earlier models. This improvement aligns with the airline’s sustainability objectives, resulting in a marked reduction in carbon emissions.
On October 2, Cebu Pacific unveiled a landmark agreement with Airbus and Pratt & Whitney for up to 152 A321neo aircraft powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines. Valued at approximately US$24 billion at list prices, this was recognized as the largest aircraft purchase in the history of Philippine aviation.
