Tourism Malaysia has unveiled the Borneo Green Bike Tour, a new eco-friendly initiative by Smart Leisure & Travels aimed at promoting responsible tourism in Kuching, Sarawak. This immersive zero-carbon experience allows travelers to discover the rich biodiversity and cultural heritage of the region while minimizing their environmental footprint.

With the Borneo Green Bike Tour, participants are encouraged to visit iconic sites in Kuching through a scenic journey using electric motor bikes, aligning with Malaysia’s commitment to sustainability and supporting its broader ecotourism goals.

A more sustainable way to experience Sarawak

According to the National Ecotourism Plan (2016-2025), Malaysia is prioritizing sustainable tourism initiatives that promote local conservation efforts and boost economic growth.

The Borneo Green Bike Tour symbolizes progress in this direction, advocating responsible travel practices that also help preserve the environment, offering visitors a deeper connection to Sarawak’s culture and landscapes. This tour is a unique blend of sustainability and exploration, allowing travelers to engage with Kuching while reducing the carbon impact of tourism.

A tour for everyone

The tour spans a relaxed 3.5 to 4 hours, suitable for all fitness levels. English and Mandarin-speaking guides are available to ensure that guests can fully enjoy the experience. The tour encompasses various famous sights, including the historic Brooke Monument, Kai Joo Lane, and the Chinese History Museum.

Two options are available: the “Self-Riding” option, with prices starting around £26 per person, allows travelers to ride the motor bikes themselves, while the “With Rider” option starts at approximately £52 per person, offering guests a driven experience. Both tours include knowledgeable guidance and eco-friendly electric motor bikes for a comfortable sightseeing experience.

Participating in the Borneo Green Bike Tour contributes to responsible tourism, promoting environmental conservation, and supporting the local economy.
