The Restaurant Cricket League (RCL) in partnership with the Adi Bodh Foundation has introduced the ‘Hunger Free Bharat’ mission, aiming to eliminate hunger and decrease food waste throughout India. This initiative resonates with the Prime Minister’s vision for a developed India by 2047 and aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal of Zero Hunger by 2030, emphasizing that no one should go hungry.

The mission intends to create an efficient distribution system to connect food waste with those who are food insecure, promoting a just society where everyone has access to nourishment. It seeks to educate, collaborate, and provide viable solutions to food waste, uniting various stakeholders to improve food redistribution.

Arvind Kumar stated, “This mission is a collective responsibility to ensure that no one goes to bed hungry. It underscores our commitment to enhancing food distribution and empowering every citizen to partake in this vital mission.”

India faces a significant issue where 68.8 million tons of food, valued at approximately ₹7,92,000 crores, are wasted annually, while 33.4 million children under five suffer from malnutrition. The Hunger Free Bharat mission aims to address these challenges by altering perceptions of surplus food and offering a sustainable solution to combat both food wastage and malnutrition.

Abhishek Bhatnagar added, “This mission highlights the crucial role of technology and community engagement. By simply making a missed call to 9213332999, individuals can join this significant initiative, helping to redistribute excess food and raise awareness about minimizing food waste.”
