Skyscanner Reveals Premier Summer Travel Options

Skyscanner shares insights into affordable summer travel destinations following a significant interest from Britons seeking unique vacation spots.

As a quarter of Brits continue their search for summer holiday destinations, Skyscanner has unveiled its 2026 Smarter Summer Report, offering insights into the cheapest and most unique places to visit. The report identifies Dortmund in Germany, Luxembourg, and Turin in Italy as some of the most affordable destinations, with average flight costs of £125 or less.

The report highlights the appeal of lesser-known destinations, with nearly half of Brits expressing interest in locations rarely visited by their peers. This sentiment is particularly strong among Gen Z, with 64% willing to explore unfamiliar places. Skyscanner’s data indicates that modifying travel dates and considering alternative locations can significantly lower travel expenses.

For budget-conscious travellers, the report recommends flying during the week of July 7 and booking flights on Saturdays, which are noted to be the least expensive times to travel. The average flight price for UK travellers is expected to be £253, but by following Skyscanner’s travel tips, these costs can be reduced.

Notable under-the-radar destinations include Turku in Finland, Kalymnos in Greece, and Pico in Portugal. These areas not only feature low-cost flights but also offer affordable accommodations and car rental options. For example, flights to Turku start at £80, with hotel stays beginning at £178 per night.

The insights provided by Skyscanner serve as a valuable resource for those looking to make the most of their summer adventures while keeping their finances in check, encouraging Brits to discover new horizons this summer.
