
International Luxury Travel Gathering Concludes in Sanya
The DONG Connection Event has marked a pivotal moment for China's luxury travel sector, showcasing collaboration and innovation.
The 9th DONG Connection Event, themed “Future Journey, Human Moments,” has concluded successfully at The Sanya EDITION, representing a significant achievement for China’s luxury travel sector. This gathering was the first major high-end travel industry event in Sanya since the closure of the Hainan Free Trade Port operations, gathering global luxury travel resources to foster industry growth.
Since its inception in 2018, the DONG Connection Event has emerged as a vital platform for the luxury travel sector. This year’s event attracted a record 750 participants, including executives from prestigious luxury travel brands such as Bvlgari, Aman, and Four Seasons, facilitating collaboration among 360 luxury hotel groups and tourism organizations from 40 countries.
The agenda focused on the transformative influence of technology in luxury travel, covering topics like AI-enabled travel, emotional experiences in design, and sustainable development in travel. Over 20,000 one-on-one sessions provided deeper insights into these trends, emphasizing the blend of advanced technology with guest experiences.
Additionally, the China Luxury Travel Trends Report was introduced, revealing preferences of high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) in China, highlighting a shift toward personal growth, cultural experiences, and sustainable travel. May Wong, CEO of the DONG Connection Event, pointed out the industry’s transition from conspicuous consumption to a focus on inner values.
Co-founder Bamboo Zhou also remarked on the role of AI as a facilitator in the industry, enhancing efficiency and personalization for travel advisors. The DONG Connection Event continues to push boundaries and redefine luxury travel, integrating AI innovations with human-centered experiences.
