
Ontario Airport Records Significant Rise in Passengers and Freight
Ontario International Airport marks an impressive increase in passenger numbers and freight volumes in March, continuing its growth trend.

ONT has seen a 2.7% increase in passenger volumes from the previous year, welcoming 574,819 travelers in March. The significant growth in international travel stood out with a 55.2% increase, totaling 60,042 international passengers.
In the first quarter of 2026, the airport served over 1.5 million passengers, reflecting a 4.1% rise compared to the same period last year. Domestic travel remained consistent at 1.3 million, while international passenger numbers surged by 58.4%, reaching 181,854.
CEO Atif Elkadi noted that this increase is a direct result of the confidence shown by airline partners and travelers towards ONT’s commitment to quality service.
Freight activities also exhibited robust growth, with March figures indicating a 15.3% rise in air freight tonnage. Year-to-date statistics reveal a 12.7% increase in freight and 9.2% growth in overall cargo tonnage. Elkadi emphasized the airport’s expanding role in enhancing the region’s economic impact.

The leading airlines at ONT in March featured Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, and Alaska Airlines. Despite challenges like increased fuel prices, ONT aims to sustain reliable scheduling and exceptional service continuity.
