Vietjet Ranks Highest in Emissions Efficiency in Southeast Asia
Vietjet has been recognized as the leading airline in emissions efficiency in Southeast Asia by Cirium's report.
Vietjet has been recognized as the most emissions-efficient airline for flights within Southeast Asia, according to Cirium’s 2025 Flight Emissions Review. The airline achieved the lowest carbon dioxide emissions per Available Seat Kilometer (CO₂/ASK) at 64.5 grams, surpassing competitors like Singapore Airlines and Lion Air.
The accolade highlights Vietjet’s operational efficiency, particularly in aircraft configuration, network planning, and load management. The airline’s young fleet of Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, including the fuel-efficient NEO variants, plays a crucial role in its emissions performance. These aircraft offer 15–20% fuel savings compared to older models, contributing significantly to Vietjet’s sustainability efforts.
Vietjet’s commitment to reducing emissions is further supported by its investment in technology-driven fuel optimization tools. The airline employs platforms such as SkyBreathe and initiatives like SFCO₂ to enhance efficiency across its network. Previously, Vietjet was named among the Top 7 global airlines for sustainability by AirlineRatings in 2025, recognizing its efforts in emissions reduction and green transition. The airline has also received Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) recognition in markets like Taiwan.
Cirium’s Flight Emissions Review provides an independent assessment of the world’s largest airlines, offering transparent comparisons of emissions performance. This recognition positions Vietjet as a leader in sustainability within the global aviation industry.
