United Airlines Partners with Make-A-Wish for Unique Aviation Events for Children
United Airlines, together with Make-A-Wish, is hosting special aviation events for children dealing with critical illnesses across the United States.
United Airlines, in collaboration with Make-A-Wish, is rolling out a new series of events named “Make More Wishes”, designed to offer children facing severe illnesses and their families exclusive aviation experiences. These special events will occur across the U.S. at United’s hub airports on specific dates where the month and day align numerically, initiating on May 5th and concluding with a significant event in Chicago on November 11th.
This initiative highlights 40 years of United’s dedication to Make-A-Wish, coinciding with the airline’s 100th anniversary. Participants will be treated to engaging experiences such as flight simulator activities, inflight training, and meet-and-greets with pilots, alongside exclusive tours of operational facilities. The finale in Chicago on November 11th is notably meaningful as it traditionally symbolizes wish-making.
Kate Gebo, United’s Executive VP of HR and Labour Relations, underscored the airline’s ongoing commitment to families of Make-A-Wish, stating, “As we celebrate 100 years at United, we’re committed to enhancing our support for Make-A-Wish families by providing enriching experiences along with fulfilling their wishes.”
Leslie Motter, CEO of Make-A-Wish America, pointed out the significance of travel in benefiting wish families, sharing, “For 40 years, United’s pilots, flight crews, staff, and customers have collectively created these vital moments for families.”
Through their partnership, United Airlines has helped facilitate travel for more than 75% of wishes, playing a vital role in delivering transformative experiences. Customers can contribute to this movement by donating either miles or finances through United’s Miles on a Mission program, where United will match contributions up to 1 million miles until April 30, 2026.
