Virgin Atlantic is set to enhance its in-flight experience by rolling out Starlink, offering complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi to passengers.
Virgin Atlantic is set to enhance its in-flight experience by rolling out Starlink, the fastest Wi-Fi in the sky, across its entire fleet.
Starting in May, the airline will introduce this high-speed, free Wi-Fi service on its Airbus A350 aircraft, with the first customer flight scheduled from London Heathrow to New York, JFK. The initiative will extend to Boeing 787 and Airbus A330neo aircraft, with full fleet connectivity expected by 2027.
The airline, the first in the UK to commit to fleet-wide Starlink Wi-Fi, aims to provide a seamless digital experience akin to a ‘home away from home’. This service will enable passengers to enjoy activities like streaming, gaming, and internet browsing throughout their flight. Juha Jaervinen, Chief Customer Officer at Virgin Atlantic, stated, “We’re setting a new standard for connectivity in the skies, with fast, free, high-speed Wi-Fi available from the moment customers step onboard.”
By leveraging Starlink’s advanced satellite constellation, Virgin Atlantic promises reliable internet access even in remote locations. The service will be free for Flying Club members, allowing passengers to stay connected with multiple devices, including smartphones, laptops, and tablets.
This rollout represents a significant step in Virgin Atlantic’s commitment to enhancing passenger experience, with full Starlink implementation anticipated by 2027.
