Adirondack Tourism Enhances Online Presence with AI Technology

The Adirondack Region introduces a novel data management system aimed at revolutionizing local tourism and improving business visibility.

The Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST) has launched a new data management system branded as the Adirondack Regional Database (ADK Data). This innovative platform is designed to boost travel information accessibility in the Adirondack region of upstate New York by incorporating advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and search engine technologies to enhance online trip planning.

ADK Data centralizes regional data into a machine-readable structure, ensuring that various AI travel assistants and search engines can relay real-time information accurately. This system not only enhances local business visibility but also improves internal operations. ROOST oversees seven regional websites, facilitating collaboration among partners such as hotels and attractions to keep information synchronized across their networks, thereby minimizing errors for over 18 million yearly visitors.

Spanning over 6.2 million acres, the 101 towns and villages in the Adirondacks collectively host thousands of events and activities annually. ADK Data makes it possible to keep this extensive information current, fostering opportunities for cross-promotion and enhancing visitor exploration throughout the region.

Jasen Lawrence, ROOST’s Director of Digital Strategy, stated, “By centralizing our local data into a highly-structured format, we are ensuring that our businesses and events are ‘AI-ready.’”

The system supports listings for events, attractions, and businesses across several regional websites including AdirondacksUSA.com and LakePlacid.com. According to ROOST CEO Dan Kelleher, this new technology represents a substantial advancement in their strategy, ensuring that Adirondack communities remain competitive in the evolving digital travel market.
