ITE 2026 Industry Forum Aims to Shape the Future of Hong Kong's Tourism

The upcoming ITE 2026 industry forum emphasizes the importance of multi-sector collaboration to enhance Hong Kong's tourism potential.

Building on the successes of previous years, the upcoming third run of the Hong Kong Management University (HKMU) / ITE tourism industry forum casts the spotlight on multi-sectoral collaboration as an essential key to unlocking Hong Kong’s full tourism potential.

Organised by the HKMU Business School in partnership with ITE organiser TKS Exhibition Services Ltd and sustainable tourism multimedia platform HK Discovery, the forum will centre on the theme Tourism is Everywhere, uniting industry practitioners, academic experts, NGOs, as well as government leaders.

By bridging diverse perspectives, the event is designed to break down silos and build actionable solutions to collectively reshape Hong Kong’s tourism landscape.

Beyond the usual places

According to Matthew Lee, acting dean of the HKMU Business School: “The concept of ‘Tourism is Everywhere’ challenges us to look beyond the usual tourist hotspots. This forum serves as a vital platform where the private sector, academia, and the community converge to co-create innovative solutions for a tourism industry that is inclusive, culturally vibrant, and future-ready.”

TKS managing director KS Tong likewise pointed out the importance of engaging the next generation. Tong stated, “To ensure long-term sustainability, involving students is not just beneficial, it’s essential. By providing them with practical, hands-on exposure at our exhibition, we are actively building the future of the industry today.”

Training an enlightened new generation of tourism professionals

As Hong Kong’s first university of applied sciences, HKMU is deeply committed to putting learning into practice.

Beyond the main forum discussions, Hospitality and Tourism Management students will step into the spotlight with exclusive, real-world opportunities through various features:

  • Student-led education booth: A dedicated booth, planned and managed entirely by students, will engage exhibitors, delegates, and participants around the theme of sustainable tourism education;
  • Gen Z project showcase: Student projects will be on display, sharing next-generation perspectives on what sustainable tourism means for Hong Kong’s future;
  • Hands-on industry experience: Students will serve as Exhibition Helpers at ITE 2026, gaining firsthand industry exposure and invaluable practical skills.
