Aurora Australis Suites Set a New Standard for Luxury Rail Travel

Journey Beyond has revealed the luxurious Aurora Australis Suites, marking a transformative moment in Australian rail travel with unparalleled space and service.

Journey Beyond has unveiled its Aurora Australis Suites, which signify a fresh chapter in luxurious rail travel across Australia. The launch occurred on April 4 aboard the Indian Pacific, commencing its journey from Perth to Sydney. This initiative promises an unmatched blend of spaciousness, innovative design, and premium service that positions it among the world’s elite luxury rail experiences.

The design of the Aurora Australis Suites, crafted by the international firm Woods Bagot, merges Art Deco styles with materials derived from the Australian landscape. “The exquisite interiors exhibit an artisanal commitment to detail and superb craftsmanship,” stated Rosina Di Maria, Director of Woods Bagot. The suites feature decorative timber, stone finishes, and elements of sheepskin and leather, mirroring the heritage and beauty of the environment.

Patrons in these suites can expect personalized butler service, exclusive in-suite dining, and a specially curated bar. The culinary journey showcases Australian fare with dishes such as Kangaroo Island lobster tail and Wagyu beef. Off-train experiences are equally elevated; eastbound travelers encounter Kalgoorlie’s Golden Horizons while those traveling westward experience Mount Lofty Sips and Summits.

After debuting on the Indian Pacific, these suites will also serve on The Ghan and Great Southern trains. With 95% of the departures for 2026 already sold, bookings for the 2027 season are now available. Prices begin at $16,790 (AU$16,790) for the Australis Suite and $11,190 (AU$11,190) for the Aurora Suite for a three-day voyage. This launch bolsters Journey Beyond’s standing as a leader in experiential tourism, providing travelers with a unique way to explore Australia’s stunning landscapes.
