Tentative Agreement Reached by United Airlines and Flight Attendants
United Airlines has announced a new tentative agreement that promises significant pay raises and improved working conditions for its flight attendants.
United Airlines has reached a tentative agreement with the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, which, if ratified, will offer significant improvements in wages and scheduling for its 30,000 flight attendants. The agreement, announced on 26 March 2026, includes immediate pay raises and a top wage rate of $100 per hour by the end of the contract, positioning United’s flight attendants as the highest-paid in the industry.
The proposed contract also introduces boarding pay, compensation for long gaps between flights, and a signing bonus totaling $740 million (£740 million) for all flight attendants. This agreement is pending approval by the AFA’s Master Executive Council, which includes all Local Presidents. Upon their approval, the agreement will be presented to the flight attendants for ratification. If accepted, the contract will be amendable after five years.
United Airlines expressed gratitude to the negotiating teams and the National Mediation Board for their efforts in reaching this agreement. The airline, with hubs across major US cities, operates the most extensive global route network among North American carriers and is the largest airline worldwide by available seat miles.
