Marbella Unveils New Tourism Office Facilities with Marine Classroom Integration

The city of Marbella has inaugurated rehabilitated facilities at its lighthouse, creating a multifunctional public space that includes new tourism offices and a marine classroom.

Marbella has inaugurated the rehabilitation of its city lighthouse facilities, transforming it into a multifunctional public space that now houses the new tourism offices and a Marine Classroom. Over 2,500 square meters previously closed to the public are now accessible. This project, a joint investment of 1.8 million euros from the City Council and the Málaga Provincial Council, modernizes the area for both residents and tourists.

The mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz, expressed gratitude towards the Málaga Provincial Council, the Regional Government of Andalusia, and the Port Authority for their support in realizing this project. Muñoz highlighted the importance of new public facilities, noting that they are essential for the ongoing development of the locality.

“Recovering this previously closed area for public service is key,” said Muñoz, emphasizing the effective collaboration among municipal teams, contractors, and various administrations throughout the project.

The complex features more than 2,000 square meters of exterior space facing the waterfront, as well as a 275 square meter building for the new tourism office. These new capabilities incorporate advanced technology and artificial intelligence to enhance visitor services, further aided by contributions from the Regional Government through the Grand Tourist Cities Plan. The venue also includes a 100 square meter Marine Classroom, designed for training activities, talks, and community gatherings.

“Overall, this infrastructure expands the public usage possibilities in this environment,” stated Muñoz.

Moreover, the mayor confirmed that the project maintains the operational functionality of the lighthouse, which continues to operate independently even as the rest of the complex joins Marbella’s public heritage. Francisco Salado, president of the Málaga Provincial Council, praised this initiative as a prime example of administrative collaboration aimed at improving citizens’ quality of life. He reiterated the commitment to support municipalities in developing necessary infrastructure with resources that would otherwise be hard to muster independently, reaffirming Marbella’s status as a premium tourist destination on the Costa del Sol.

In attendance was Carlos Rubio, president of the Málaga Port Authority, who remarked that technological advancements had allowed for the repurposing of spaces once devoted to lighthouse operations, providing a better integration of facilities into the city. “This project significantly enhances the quality of available spaces for Marbella,” he affirmed. The inauguration also saw the presence of Carlos García, Regional Delegate for Tourism from the Regional Government of Andalusia, accompanying authorities during the tour of the new facilities.
