Radisson Aims for 100 Net Zero Hotels by 2030
Radisson Hotel Group plans to expand its Verified Net Zero Hotels program to 100 locations worldwide by 2030, with a focus on sustainability.
Radisson Hotel Group has unveiled its ambitious initiative to broaden its Verified Net Zero Hotels (VNZ) program to 100 locations globally by the year 2030. This announcement was made during the International Hospitality Investment Forum 2026 held in Berlin. Originally launched as a pilot, this initiative aims to prove that existing hotel properties can achieve net zero status.
The expansion kicks off in Norway, followed by subsequent roll-outs slated for Denmark, Sweden, the UK, and South Africa in 2026.
The VNZ program’s primary focus is on eliminating Scope 1 and 2 emissions by leveraging electrification and renewable energy sources, while also making significant strides in reducing Scope 3 emissions. Each hotel involved will undergo a thorough verification process by TÜV Rheinland to ensure adherence to the Net Zero Methodology for Hotels.
Federico J. González, the CEO of Radisson Hotel Group, expressed, “Verified Net Zero Hotels are an important step in our net zero transformation, setting a new standard for how hospitality can reduce its environmental impact.”
The program has already demonstrated successful results in Manchester and Oslo, where participating hotels experienced notable guest engagement and substantial carbon reductions. Inge Huijbrechts, the Chief Sustainability & Security Officer, remarked, “The excellent results from the Manchester and Oslo VNZ hotels support the expansion of Radisson Hotel Group’s pioneering program.”
As sustainability takes on increasing significance for regulators, investors, and guests, Radisson’s VNZ roll-out positions the organization as a front-runner in operational net zero initiatives. The goal is to provide guests with a net-zero footprint throughout their stay, underscoring the company’s commitment to sustainable hospitality.
