GOL Introduces Direct Flights Linking Brazil with Portugal

GOL Linhas Aéreas has launched ticket sales for direct flights connecting Rio de Janeiro and Lisbon, marking its entry into intercontinental travel.

Brazilian airline GOL Linhas Aéreas has announced the start of ticket sales for new direct flights linking Rio de Janeiro’s RIOgaleão International Airport with Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport, marking GOL’s first venture into intercontinental operations. The inaugural flights are set to commence on September 16, 2026, with four roundtrips per week.

From September 16 to October 24, flights will leave Rio de Janeiro at 8:00 AM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, arriving in Lisbon at 9:40 PM. There’s a slight adjustment on Fridays, departing at 8:05 AM and landing at 9:45 PM. Starting from October 25, the schedule will shift to a 9:00 AM departure on the same days, maintaining the arrival time.

Return flights from Lisbon will depart at 11:30 PM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, and at 11:35 PM on Fridays, with arrival in Rio de Janeiro at 5:30 AM the next day.

The route will utilize the Airbus A330, which accommodates around 300 passengers, offering GOL’s INSIGNIA business class, which includes premium services and lounge access. Tickets can be purchased through GOL’s website and mobile application.

Additionally, GOL has announced upcoming direct flights from Rio de Janeiro to New York’s JFK International Airport, starting on July 8, with three flights each week, along with future routes planned to Paris and Orlando, with details to be announced.
