AmaSofia is Unveiled by AmaWaterways on the Rhine
AmaWaterways has introduced its latest river cruise ship, AmaSofia, at the ASTA River Cruise Expo in Amsterdam, enhancing its brand with a fresh look.
AmaWaterways celebrated the christening of its newest river vessel, AmaSofia, at the ASTA River Cruise Expo in Amsterdam. The event took place on March 14, highlighting the launch of AmaSofia, which features the updated branding and colors of AmaWaterways in Europe. This ship accommodates up to 154 guests and offers 76 staterooms, including suites measuring up to 350 square feet.
The event saw the participation of over 1,200 travel advisers who joined in the celebrations aboard three ships of the cruise line: AmaPrima, AmaVenita, and AmaSofia. Sarah Little, the Senior Vice President of Business Development at ASTA, served as the ship’s godmother, marking the christening of AmaSofia. The evening was capped off with an impressive 300-drone light show over the Rhine River.
Catherine Powell, CEO of AmaWaterways, stated, “Ships come to life through people, from the crew who pour pride into every detail, the guests who celebrate life’s moments on board to the travel advisers who inspire those journeys in the first place.”
AmaSofia is set to kick off its 2026 season with itineraries along the Rhine, including the Rhine Castles & Swiss Alps route, before moving to the Danube in June. The ship will feature routes such as Romantic Danube and Christmas Markets on the Danube, primarily operating between Budapest and Vilshofen.
Post-expo, over 100 travel advisers will experience AmaSofia through a FAM cruise, with additional FAM sailings planned for the year, enabling more advisers to discover the ship and its offerings.
