BWH Hotels Announces Commitment to Expand in Africa

The hotel chain plans to grow its presence in key African markets as it prepares for the Future Hospitality Summit.

BWH Hotels has reaffirmed its commitment to increasing its footprint in Africa, in conjunction with the upcoming Future Hospitality Summit (FHS) Africa set for March 31 to April 1, 2026. The hospitality group, encompassing brands such as WorldHotels, Best Western Hotels & Resorts, and SureStay Hotels, is directing its focus towards pivotal markets including Ethiopia, Tanzania, Egypt, and Morocco, spurred by growing investor confidence and positive tourism trends.

The company ranks Morocco and Egypt as fast-expanding markets, having signed more than 25 new properties in Morocco alone, with additional projects taking shape in Egypt. Wytze van den Berg, VP International Operations at BWH Hotels, emphasized the significance of these markets, stating, “These two markets are rapidly accelerating and represent major growth engines for our brand family across Africa.”

BWH Hotels plans to launch four new properties in 2026, including two in Nigeria, one in Ethiopia, and one in Tanzania. These new establishments, like the Best Western Premier McDons Skye Hotel in Owerri and the Best Western Plus Ambience Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, are designed to cater to both business and leisure travelers with modern amenities and strategic locations.

As it prepares for FHS Africa 2026, BWH Hotels aims to engage with investors and industry leaders to explore sustainable growth and diversification strategies for its brand. Van den Berg concluded, “Africa continues to be a priority region for BWH Hotels, and we look forward to contributing our insights and strengthening our partnerships across the continent.”
