Harcourt Hotels Celebrates 40 Years with a New Publication

A new book celebrates the 40th anniversary of Harcourt Hotels, highlighting unique hotels and their histories.

Harcourt Hotels has introduced a new book, The Harcourt Collection, celebrating its 40th anniversary and the visionary leadership of its founder, Pat Doherty.

The publication, brought forth by Harcourt Developments, compiles the tales of five remarkable hotels within the Harcourt family, emphasizing their unique architectural styles and rich histories.

Produced with the expertise of Creative Director John Paul Doherty, the book showcases photography by Chris Heaney and Patryk Sadowski, along with articles penned by journalists Janice Morley and Emma Wells. It is offered at no cost to guests at any Harcourt Collection hotel, inviting them to discover the enriching history and hospitality these properties provide.

The collection encompasses the:**

  • Titanic Hotel Belfast,
  • Titanic Hotel Liverpool,
  • Lough Eske Castle,
  • Redcastle Hotel & Spa in County Donegal,
  • Carlisle Bay in Antigua.**

Every location demonstrates Doherty’s talent for recognizing potential in overlooked areas and turning them into luxurious retreats. Pat remarked, “Tapping into potential, looking beyond the obvious, and trusting my gut instincts have always served me well.”

The journey began in 1986 with the purchase of a rundown hotel on Lough Foyle, which transitioned into the Redcastle Hotel. Doherty’s ambition led to the restoration of Lough Eske Castle, previously a 15th-century ruin, now boasting five-star luxury.

Additionally, he recognized the potential in a hurricane-stricken club in the Caribbean, which became the luxury Carlisle Bay, while the Titanic Hotels celebrate maritime legacies in Liverpool and Belfast.
