The Visit Maldives Corporation has unveiled a comprehensive strategy aimed at ensuring traveler safety and enhancing the resilience of the destination in response to current global aviation challenges.

Visit Maldives is prioritizing traveler safety and destination resilience through a series of proactive measures

Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC), in collaboration with national ministries and industry partners, has introduced a comprehensive response strategy aiming to tackle the disruptions caused by the global aviation crisis that began on March 7. The initiative focuses on ensuring traveler safety and bolstering destination resilience through various proactive measures.

Ongoing efforts
The corporation has facilitated eight repatriation flights, including dedicated services to Germany and France, helping travelers return home safely. To provide crucial on-ground support, a dedicated helpdesk is set up at Velana International Airport (VIA) in partnership with the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) and the Ministry of Tourism & Environment.

This center offers guidance and assistance to visitors during uncertain times. Furthermore, Visit Maldives is discussing with several airlines to initiate extra flights and improve travel options in the near future.

Standing together
To lessen the impact on tourist arrivals, the corporation urges the industry to unite in launching joint marketing campaigns targeting markets such as India, China, and Russia—regions where travel disruptions have been less severe. As they look to the future, VMC is developing a coordinated crisis response strategy and plans to hold industry discussions soon to align recovery plans and actions to support the sector. Through open communication and feedback collection from all stakeholders, Visit Maldives is committed to overcoming these global challenges.
