Akasa Air, India’s fastest-growing airline, has achieved a significant milestone by carrying over 10,000 pets since the launch of its ‘Pets on Akasa’ service in November 2022. This success highlights the airline’s dedication to being the most reliable and pet-friendly carrier in India. The milestone was celebrated with a unique event for the 10,000th pet traveler, Topshe, during a flight from Mumbai to Kolkata.

The service for pet travel has witnessed a notable surge in demand, particularly during the festive season from October to December, accounting for nearly 35% of annual journeys. This period saw a 63% rise in monthly volumes, indicating an increasing trend of pet owners traveling with their pets during holidays. The Bengaluru-Delhi-Bengaluru route has become the most favored, contributing to 13.66% of all pet journeys.

Naarayan T V, Akasa Air’s Chief Marketing Officer, remarked on this achievement, stating, “From the very start, Pets on Akasa was built around the needs of pet parents, focusing on creating a structured, safe, and consistently dependable travel experience.”

With enhancements like accommodating up to three pets per flight and raising the in-cabin weight limit to 10 kg, the airline demonstrates its commitment to improving the pet travel experience. Remarkably, 93% of pets traveled in-cabin, earning loyalty from customers, some of whom frequently fly with their pets. Akasa Air collaborates with organizations like Umeed for Animals Foundation to maintain high standards of pet comfort and safety.
