United Airlines to Increase Summer Flights from Chicago O'Hare
United Airlines is set to operate a groundbreaking 750 flights daily from Chicago's O'Hare International Airport this summer, marking a historic expansion in service.
United Airlines is set to operate a record 750 flights per day from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) this summer, marking the largest schedule ever by any airline at the airport. This expansion includes nonstop services to 222 destinations, surpassing its competitors by 38 routes.
The airline will introduce five new routes to midwestern cities, reinforcing ORD’s status as a premier Midwest hub. The new routes, starting in late April and early May, will connect Chicago with Champaign/Urbana, Kalamazoo, Lansing, La Crosse, and Bloomington/Normal.
Omar Idris, United’s Vice President of ORD, highlighted the airline’s commitment to investing in its network and improving customer experience in Chicago, its hometown.
Additionally, United will enhance its customer experience at ORD with five United Club locations and a newly designed United Polaris Lounge. The airline is also boosting its fleet’s technological capabilities, offering seatback screens, larger overhead bins, Bluetooth connectivity, and free Starlink Wi-Fi for MileagePlus members.
United’s operational excellence at ORD is evident, as it led major carriers in on-time arrivals in 2025. The airline plans to hire about 2,500 more staff at ORD by the end of the year to support its growth.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker praised United’s expansion, noting its positive impact on the state’s economy and tourism. The summer schedule will include flights to all 16 cities hosting large international soccer games in 2026, further solidifying ORD’s role as a global gateway.
