WTTC Unveils New Global Office in Madrid
The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Spain’s Ministry of Industry and Tourism and the Madrid City Council to officially open its new Global Office in Madrid. This strategic relocation aims to establish Madrid as the world capital of tourism governance, supported by the Spanish government.
The agreement was signed by Gloria Guevara Manzo, the President and CEO of WTTC; Jordi Hereu Boher, Spain’s Minister of Industry and Tourism; and José Luis Martínez-Almeida, the Mayor of Madrid. This location was selected after a comprehensive evaluation of proposals from various countries, considering factors such as office facilities, tax benefits, and visa facilitation.
The opening of the WTTC Global Office in Madrid is expected to create significant value for its members and boost the growth potential of the tourism sector. It signifies a new phase of collaboration between public and private sectors, strengthening connections with international tourism organizations like UN Tourism.
Gloria Guevara Manzo expressed her excitement about this development, declaring, “We are thrilled about the relocation of the WTTC Global Office to the vibrant city of Madrid, which offers substantial competitive advantages that will position Spain as the leading capital of tourism governance.”
Spain’s Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu Boher, emphasized the joint efforts between the government and WTTC, while Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida acknowledged the confidence the city instills in international tourism institutions.
The WTTC, which represents the private sector of the travel and tourism industry, will now craft the global agenda from Madrid. In 2025, the sector contributed $11.7 trillion to the global economy, supporting 371 million jobs worldwide.
