Wizz Air has announced a new route connecting Birmingham to Timișoara, Romania, set to commence on 21 May 2026. The twice-weekly service will operate on Thursdays and Sundays, expanding Wizz Air’s presence at Birmingham Airport to seven destinations. This new route offers UK travellers direct access to Timișoara, a city renowned for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance.

The introduction of this route marks a significant milestone for Wizz Air, which recently celebrated carrying over 500 million passengers and operating 1,000 routes across its network. The airline’s spokesperson expressed excitement about the new addition, highlighting Timișoara as “one of Europe’s hidden gems” and emphasising the airline’s commitment to making such destinations more accessible.

Nick Barton, CEO of Birmingham Airport, welcomed the expansion, noting that Timișoara, often referred to as “Little Vienna,” is a cultural hub with acclaimed museums and vibrant art galleries. He expressed confidence that the new service will be popular among travellers.

Tickets for the Birmingham-Timișoara route are now available, with fares starting at £22.99. The launch of this route underscores Wizz Air’s strategic growth in the European aviation market, further enhancing its reputation as a leading low-cost carrier.
