Mayfair Spring Valley Resort to Provide Catering for Vande Bharat Sleeper Train

Mayfair Spring Valley Resort, a prominent luxury hotel in Northeast India, has been selected as the caterer for India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This fresh service, running on the Howrah-Kamakhya line, pledges passengers an exceptional dining journey featuring authentic dishes from West Bengal and Assam.

Passengers will savor a menu that features Basanti pulao, cholar and moong dal, Assamese joha rice, alongside traditional desserts such as sandesh and rasgulla. These culinary delights are crafted with locally-sourced ingredients, promoting a taste of regional authenticity. According to Ratan Sharma, Managing Director of the resort, their focus is on curating an immersive experience through dining, showcasing the vibrant culinary heritage of Bengal and Assam.

The launch of the Howrah-Kamakhya Vande Bharat Sleeper Train represents an important advancement in Indian rail transport, spanning almost 1,000 km with 16 air-conditioned sleeper coaches, accommodating approximately 823 patrons. It incorporates modern comforts like ergonomic berths and automatic doors, aiming to enhance connectivity between Eastern India and the Northeast, and offers a premium overnight travel option.
