Vietjet has achieved two significant milestones at Long Thanh International Airport, set to be Vietnam’s largest airport when fully operational.
The airline celebrated the completion of its international-standard aircraft maintenance facility and launched its first flight to the airport. These developments demonstrate Vietjet’s commitment to advancing aviation infrastructure for enhanced regional and global connectivity.
The hangar project, which started on August 19, 2025, is part of the Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering Centre at Long Thanh. Covering an area of 8.4 hectares and with an investment of $100 million, the facility includes Hangars No. 3 and No. 4, which were designed by UK-based Mace and France’s Apave. The hangars feature a cutting-edge steel structure conforming to global aviation standards.
Once completed, they will accommodate six narrow-body and two wide-body aircraft, or up to ten narrow-body aircraft concurrently.
Right on schedule Despite facing challenging construction conditions, the project has been completed on schedule, showcasing Vietjet’s execution capability and international collaboration. The facility aims to strengthen domestic maintenance capabilities, minimize dependency on foreign technical services, and generate high-quality job opportunities in Vietnam and beyond.
Coinciding with the hangar’s opening, Vietjet operated its inaugural flight VJ038 from Tan Son Nhat International Airport to Long Thanh using an Airbus A321neo, highlighting the airline’s long-term vision and commitment to sustainable investment in Vietnam’s aviation industry.
