Mumbai Airport Sees 54.8 Million Passengers in 2024

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport reported significant growth in passenger traffic.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) marked a significant achievement by welcoming approximately 54.8 million passengers in 2024. This represents a 6.3% increase compared to 2023 and a 19.41% rise from the pre-pandemic levels of 2019. In total, CSMIA recorded 346,617 Air Traffic Movements (ATMs), up by 3.2% from the previous year.

These impressive figures further solidify CSMIA’s position as a global aviation hub, demonstrating its capability to connect millions of travelers efficiently while ensuring operational excellence through strategic enhancements and connectivity initiatives.

Key Highlights:

  • Record High Movements: The airport saw its busiest day on December 21, 2024, with around 170,000 passengers.
  • Busiest Month: December recorded 5.05 million passengers, a 3.4% increase compared to the same month in 2023.
  • Peak Days: On February 3 and 10, 2024, CSMIA handled its highest-ever daily ATMs at 962 movements each day.

Top Domestic and International Destinations:

  • Domestic: Delhi (18%), Bengaluru (11%), and Goa (7%).
  • International: Dubai (16%), London (7%), and Abu Dhabi (7%).

Connectivity Expansion:

CSMIA has also expanded its network with new international routes and welcomed carriers like Nok Air and Uzbekistan Airways, reinforcing its significance in global travel dynamics.
