Radisson Blu, Bengaluru, Outer Ring Road Achieves LEED Zero Carbon Certification

Radisson Blu, Bengaluru, Outer Ring Road has concluded a pivotal year of sustainability milestones by receiving the esteemed LEED Zero Carbon Certification this month. The LEED Zero certification, created by the U.S. Green Building Council, verifies the achievement of net-zero goals and indicates market leadership. This achievement follows the hotel’s earlier recognition as the first in India to earn the LEED V 4.1 Platinum Certificate for Operations & Maintenance of an Existing Building.

Mr. Austin Roach, Chairman of Radisson Blu Bengaluru Outer Ring Road, stated, “It is indeed heartening to see that our consistent and sincere efforts to protect and preserve the environment are being recognized by some of the world’s leading institutions that are themselves working to accelerate impactful change.”

The Radisson Blu has implemented various initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint, including investing in renewable energy. The hotel operates entirely on green energy generated from its solar installation. Furthermore, an in-house bio-gas plant eliminates organic waste, thus promoting environmental sustainability. All staff meals are sourced from this facility, ensuring zero reliance on non-organic fertilizers.

The hotel also promotes reduced plastic usage by employing a water bottling facility that refills glass bottles for all guests, effectively bypassing the need for single-use plastic bottled water. This initiative helps the hotel avoid over a tonne of plastic waste annually.

To further enhance water conservation, the hotel has a rainwater capture system that reuses water for domestic purposes, ensuring a remarkable 100% circularity in its laundry operations.
