Southwest Airlines Partners with Philippine Airlines to Enhance Travel Options

Southwest Airlines announces a partnership with Philippine Airlines to expand travel choices for customers exploring international destinations.

Southwest Airlines Co welcomes Philippine Airlines as its latest partner carrier to connect transoceanic travelers with Southwest-operated flights.
With Philippine Airlines, numerous new travel options across the Pacific now available for Southwest customers, accessible through the Philippine flag-carrier or third-party travel booking platforms.

Philippine Airlines operates flights to and from several airports in the Philippines, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East. Currently, Southwest has four overseas air partner-carriers and is pursuing additional transatlantic partnerships later this year.

Moreover, Southwest aims to enhance customer experience by improving the quality and amount of travel options, which includes a redesigned cabin experience. This enhancement allows for advanced booking of assigned and extra legroom seats starting from January 27, 2026.

Improving Connectivity

In the U.S., Philippine Airlines and Southwest are collaborating to serve international travelers connecting through key airports including Los Angeles (LAX), Seattle/Tacoma (SEA), San Francisco (SFO), and Honolulu, Oahu (HNL), with nearly 40 interisland arrivals and departures every day.

According to Andrew Watterson, “Each airline partnership brings unique and expanded reach to destinations worldwide, providing more consumers the chance to begin or end their journey with Southwest. With approximately 90 daily flights connecting the Hawaiian Islands and being California’s premier air carrier, this positions Southwest uniquely to serve Philippine Airlines passengers traveling to or from the U.S.”

Christoph Gaertner, Vice-President for Revenue Management at Philippine Airlines noted that “Our interline partnership with Southwest Airlines enables seamless connections and single-ticket travels throughout both our networks. As we continue to broaden PAL’s global presence, this collaboration provides more options and greater adaptability, allowing our guests to access a broader array of destinations within the U.S.”
