Cathay Pacific’s Discovery Flight 2025 Embarks on an Inspiring Journey with 180 First-Time Flyers

Cathay Pacific's Discovery Flight 2025 invites young participants from various social programs for an unforgettable aerial experience over Hong Kong.

Cathay Pacific proudly hosted the Discovery Flight 2025 on November 1, 2025, offering an unforgettable experience for 180 participants from the Hong Kong SAR Government’s Strive and Rise Programme and the Kwun Tong Methodist Social Service. The flight took guests on a 90-minute journey over Hong Kong aboard the airline’s newly upgraded Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

Hosting the event was Lavinia Lau, Cathay’s Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, with Eric Chan Kwok-ki, Chief Secretary for Administration of the Hong Kong SAR Government, as the Guest of Honour.

In his speech, Eric Chan expressed gratitude towards Cathay for their significant contributions to the Strive and Rise programme, noting that Cathay has organized over 40 activities which have benefited more than 3,600 students and mentors. Activities include the Discovery Flight and visits to Cathay City and the airport area, providing participants insights into the aviation industry.

Eric also emphasized that this Discovery Flight was an important highlight of Cathay’s I Can Fly programme, urging attendees to take advantage of this opportunity for personal growth and networking.

“At Cathay, we believe in the power of aviation not just to connect places, but to help individuals advance in life. Our programme aims to nurture Hong Kong’s future aviators by offering meaningful opportunities for learning and inspiration,” Lavinia Lau affirmed during the event.

The I Can Fly programme, launched in 2003, actively promotes youth development and includes various initiatives like the Cadet Pilot Training Programme and summer internships. This year alone, the programme has already engaged around 1,400 young individuals across Hong Kong.
