Japanese hospitality company Hoshino Resorts has announced the upcoming opening of two new properties under its KAI brand in 2026. KAI, known for its traditional onsen ryokan [hot spring inn] hospitality, will introduce:
KAI Kusatsu in Gunma
- Opening Date: June 7, 2026.
- Location: Kusatsu Onsen, Gunma Prefecture.
- Concept: A forest hot spring inn linked by a tunnel to the surrounding onsen landscape.
- Nestled on a hillside, the facility includes several buildings, guest room wings, and a dedicated bathhouse, alongside a special tunnel providing direct access to Kusatsu Onsen town.
KAI Miyajima
- Opening Date: Summer 2026.
- Location: Offering views of the Great Torii Gate of Itsukushima Shrine, each room boasts ocean views of the Seto Inland Sea.
- Features: A public hot spring designed to simulate the essence of sea immersion, with direct access from the hotel to Itsukushima Shrine. This property will also feature the Setouchi Ancient Sauna, reconnecting guests with local culture.
