After entering the Chinese market in 1988, Hilton has significantly expanded its room inventory. Recently, the company unveiled major new signings in luxury and lifestyle segments to surpass 100 such hotels across Greater China in the coming years. Notable future developments include:

  • Waldorf Astoria Shenzhen (2028): A landmark hotel set to redefine luxury in Shenzhen.
  • LXR Hotels & Resorts, Tianjin (2029): A personalized luxury experience emphasizing Tianjin’s cultural heritage.
  • Conrad Zhoushan (2028): With access to sacred mountain views.
  • Curio Collection by Hilton in Quanzhou (2026): Celebrating historical design and local culture.

Hilton aims to exceed 250 luxury hotels across Asia Pacific, with over 1,000 already in operation globally. According to Alan Watts, President of Asia Pacific at Hilton, reaching 888 hotels in China symbolizes Hilton’s commitment to this key market.

The Waldorf Astoria Shanghai Qiantan offers 204 spacious rooms with stunning river views. Dining options showcase a range of cuisines from local Mediterranean to Michelin-star experiences. This new hotel marks an important milestone as Shanghai becomes the third city globally to host two Waldorf Astoria properties, following Dubai and Doha.

Qian Jin, President of Greater China and Mongolia at Hilton, noted that the dual presence of luxury hotels in Shanghai reflects robust opportunities within China’s hospitality market. Hilton’s business encompasses 11 brands across over 280 destinations, creating job opportunities for 70,000 team members in China.
