Royal Caribbean Revives Artist Discovery Programme

Royal Caribbean is calling upon talented artists in the Caribbean to showcase their creativity as part of the return of its Artist Discovery Programme onboard the new Star of the Seas.

Royal Caribbean has announced the return of its Artist Discovery Programme, inviting talented artists from the Caribbean to display their work aboard the new Star of the Seas.

Set to launch in Port Canaveral this August, Star of the Seas will serve as a vibrant canvas for upcoming artists to showcase the Caribbean spirit to vacationers worldwide.

Launched on the Icon of the Seas, the programme celebrates local Caribbean talents featured in Star’s curated art collection, offering them an opportunity to share their abilities.

“We are excited for this next edition of the Artist Discovery Programme and can’t wait to be awestruck by visionary artists across the Caribbean. Last year, our first-ever call to artists received an overwhelming response with more than 140 artists across 25 Caribbean countries submitting pieces that told a unique story and captured the allure of the region.”

What will selected artists do?

The next artists chosen for the programme will paint large-scale murals in prominent locations, including:

  • The Royal Promenade, the heartbeat of the new vacation experience
  • The Suite Sundeck Lobby
  • The Suite Sundeck

Each selected artist will receive a grant ranging from $20,000 to over $100,000 to bring their vision to life.

The inaugural group includes esteemed artists such as Angelika Wallace-Whitfield from The Bahamas, Phillipe Dodard from Haiti, and Jason Hospedales from Trinidad & Tobago. Their creations will continue to be enjoyed by millions aboard the Icon of the Seas, celebrating Caribbean art and culture.
