
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is set to host its inaugural World Data Symposium (WDS) in Dublin, Ireland on February 26th and 27th. The event, hosted in part by Aer Lingus, will focus on the theme of Digital skies, Unleashing the Power of Data in Aviation. It aims to bring together experts to discuss various topics surrounding data, technology, and cybersecurity relevant to aviation.
The symposium will highlight the significant role of data analytics in aiding industry leaders to enhance their decision-making processes and the transformative potential of AI technologies in aviation operations.
Kim Macaulay, IATA’s chief information and data officer, stated: “By convening aviation’s leading experts to explore the impact and potential of data, technology, and cybersecurity in aviation, the IATA World Data Symposium is establishing itself as the must-attend event. With WDS, we are creating a vital opportunity to assess how digitalization is driving change across every element of the airline industry. By sharing our collective experiences, we will all be stronger.”
Additionally, Lynne Embleton, chief executive of Aer Lingus, mentioned: “Data and technology are revolutionizing how we operate in many aspects of our lives, and the aviation industry is no different… what we have seen to date is only the tip of the iceberg.”
