
6th Meghalaya Games Torch Relay Celebrates Unity and Excellence
The torch relay for the 6th Meghalaya Games emphasizes cultural harmony and community spirit as it approaches its final stages.
The 6th Meghalaya Games 2025, scheduled from January 20th to 25th, 2025, is set to commence with a torch relay ceremony that symbolizes anticipation and preparation for the games.
The ceremony was inaugurated on January 17th, 2025, from PA Sangma Stadium in Tura, and it will complete its final laps in Jowai leading up to the official countdown to the games.
The games will be inaugurated by Conrad K Sangma, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, alongside the Hon’ble Sports Minister Shakliar Warjri, and other dignitaries.
This torch relay ceremony serves as a catalyst for cultural harmony, promoting values such as unity, inclusivity, and diversity. It transcends cultural and tribal differences as it passes through various districts, amplifying a sense of shared aspirations and pride among the people of Meghalaya.
The relay features over 3500 athletes competing for 1600 medals across 23 venues, including two locations in Shillong and Laitkor. Notably, it will also include the participation of seven para-athletes competing in para-shooting events.
The ceremony has traveled extensively through the state, highlighting the unity of the people and culminating at the Wahiajer Football Stadium for the games beginning on January 21st, 2025.
