Data Sharing Hinders AI Expansion in Hospitality: Insights from Ireckonu
A recent study reveals that data sharing issues are a significant obstacle to adopting AI in the hospitality industry.
According to the study AI & Automation in Hospitality: Navigating Today’s Challenges, Shaping Tomorrow’s Gains, conducted by h2c GmbH and backed by Ireckonu, it was found that despite 78% of hotel chains incorporating AI technology, many are still facing enormous barriers, particularly relating to data sharing and integration.
Key Findings:
- 41% of hotels reported challenges around data quality and accessibility.
- 32% noted issues with cross-departmental data integration.
- 29% struggle with departmental data silos.
Only 22% of hotel chains have organized a centralized data structure to support AI initiatives, while just 21% utilize a consolidated content or data platform.*
“AI is no longer optional. Hoteliers who fail to embrace it risk being left behind. While most have begun adopting AI, many still struggle to use it effectively. Building a unified data foundation and developing specialized expertise are key to unlock its full potential,” said Jan Jaap van Roon, CEO of Ireckonu.
Recommendations for Hospitality Businesses
- Develop a Unified Data Foundation: Combined efforts in data management are crucial to leveraging AI effectively.
- Embrace Specialization: Cultivating AI expertise within the organization enhances the potential for personalized guest experiences and operational efficiencies.
The report emphasizes the need for hotels to transition from experimental use of AI tools to strategic integration to maintain competitive advantage.
