Introduction
Akasa Air, recognized as India’s fastest-growing airline, recently launched its operations from Kozhikode (Calicut) with direct flights to Mumbai. The inaugural flight took off on October 1, 2025, leaving Kozhikode International Airport at 19:55 and landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai at 21:40.
This new service enhances connectivity in the Malabar region and reflects Akasa’s strategic goals in Kerala.
Route Expansion
Since commencing its operations in Kerala in 2022, Akasa Air has steadily broadened its presence in the state, now managing 28 weekly flights from Kozhikode and Kochi to four major destinations across India and beyond, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Jeddah, and Abu Dhabi. This expansion is aimed at providing travelers with increased choices and convenience.
Kerala remains a significant focus for Akasa Air’s growth initiatives as the airline aims to bolster air connectivity to promote travel and tourism in the region.
Launch Event
A ceremonial event at Kozhikode International Airport marked the start of the service, featuring a ceremonial lamp lighting and the presentation of a special boarding pass to the first passenger by Akasa Air officials and local government leaders. This new route effectively complements the airline’s existing services from Kochi.
