Sabre Unveils New Agentic APIs for Travel

New APIs accessible via a proprietary MCP “universal translator” unlock endless possibilities for AI-powered shopping, booking, and servicing at scale

Sabre Corporation has announced its inaugural agentic solutions for the travel industry, building on its extensive travel data cloud to initiate a new era of AI-powered retailing. The forthcoming launch will feature agentic-ready APIs facilitated by a proprietary Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, which will serve as a universal translator. This innovation makes complex travel technology understandable for any AI agent, enabling AI to seamlessly shop, book, service, and optimize trips in real-time.

This shift aims to address customer pain points that often consume unnecessary time and patience. Initial capabilities will prioritize flights, hotels, and post-booking services.

The possibilities to enhance travel through this agentic AI are vast. Different agentic tools can be developed using Sabre’s agentic API, such as:

  • An IROPS Call-Centre Proxy Agent that holds on the line with an airline to secure same-day rebooking and manages calendar updates.
  • A Hotel Ops Agent that contacts guests to confirm late arrivals, ensuring room availability while attending to preferences like ‘oat milk for breakfast’.
  • An Agent to-Agent Collaboration Agent that interacts with another agency’s AI to finalize intricate changes such as split tickets or fare combinability.
  • A Visa & Compliance Agent that manages online applications, processing fees, and attaching documents.
  • An Expense Filing Agent that organizes receipts and submits accurate reports.

These agents handle time-consuming tasks currently faced by travelers and agents alike. Leveraging Sabre’s MCP and agentic APIs will facilitate these processes, leading to smoother trips and reduced costs.

Underlying this innovation is Sabre IQ, the company’s systemic AI layer, which has transitioned from retail optimization to integrating Large Language Model (LLM) technology, allowing AI to interact in a natural conversation style.

However, simply being ‘smart’ is not sufficient. The key differentiator is data, and the Sabre IQ AI Layer is uniquely supported by an extensive reservoir of travel intelligence, built on Sabre’s Travel Data Cloud—developed in close collaboration with Google. This cloud contains over 50 petabytes of historical and real-time data signals, securely managed by Sabre’s rigorous access controls.

“There’s a difference between being smart and being truly intelligent at scale,” emphasizes Garry Wiseman, Chief Product and Technology Officer of Sabre. “With our new MCP server and agentic-ready APIs supported by Sabre IQ, we’re planting a stake in the ground. This is the smartest enterprise AI solution in travel, built for the entire industry to leverage. Future possibilities are becoming reality – and Sabre is driving that change.”

Unlike disjointed tools, Sabre’s new agentic capabilities are deeply integrated into SabreMosaic, the company’s modular, cloud-native platform, enabling airlines, agencies, and developers to adopt agentic workflows effortlessly while maintaining scale and trust. For travel sellers, this translates into tangible business value through automating complex tasks, lowering service costs, crafting smarter itineraries, and enhancing upselling opportunities with personalized offers.

Together, these innovations signify a new chapter in travel retailing where AI will operate smoothly within the ecosystem, positioning Sabre as a leader in shaping the future of travel.
