Behind-the-Scenes Tours of Tower Bridge Reintroduce BSL Interpretation
Explore London’s iconic Tower Bridge through its exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Tours, now including British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation options.
Tower Bridge invites guests to explore London’s iconic landmark with exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Tours available for a limited time, featuring in-person British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation options.
Tickets for the initial tours, set for November and December, will be available this month.
These guided tours provide an extraordinary opportunity to venture beyond the standard pathways and discover Tower Bridge’s machinery and hidden areas, including the Bascule Chambers that house the counterweights involved in bridge lifts.
The special tours run on specific dates from November to March and typically sell out due to high interest. This year marks a milestone for Tower Bridge, being its most inclusive offering, with BSL-interpreted tours available.
Chris Earlie, Director of Tower Bridge, stated, “These tours are an incredible opportunity to see the Bridge from the inside out; from the thrilling machinery that powers it, to the stories of the people behind its construction.”
He added, “Making this unique experience accessible isn’t easy due to the operational nature of the working Bridge, but with the introduction of BSL interpretation, we hope to provide a more inclusive offer.”
In support of this initiative, Martin Fox-Roberts remarked, “Tower Bridge is such a powerful symbol of history and engineering. Ensuring Deaf visitors can fully engage with the experience is incredibly important.”
Ticket prices for the tours are set at £80 per adult and £72.50 per child, with disabled adult tickets at £75 each. Tickets for the November and December sessions will go on sale this month, with releases for the January to March tours to follow later.
