
Phillipa Harrison Takes the Helm as CEO of RAKTDA
Ras Al Khaimah has appointed Phillipa Harrison as the new CEO of its tourism authority, aiming to expand its vision into a leading global tourist destination.
The Government of Ras Al Khaimah has announced the appointment of Phillipa Harrison as the new CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA). Harrison, the former Managing Director of Tourism Australia, will lead the Emirate’s ambitious vision to become the ‘Destination of the Future’, leveraging her decades of international tourism experience across Australia and other global markets.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saud Al Qasimi, Chairman of RAKTDA’s Executive Committee, expressed confidence in Harrison’s capabilities: “Tourism is at the heart of Ras Al Khaimah’s strategy; it is our fastest-growing sector, and we have achieved remarkable milestones in a short time. Ms. Harrison’s extensive knowledge and leadership experience make us confident in her ability to align with Ras Al Khaimah’s ambitious goals in the tourism sector.”
Harrison remarked on her new role, saying, “I’m honored to join at such an exciting time. Ras Al Khaimah has already established itself as an international success story, and I look forward to unlocking even more growth in the years to come.”
Harrison’s appointment is pivotal in propelling Ras Al Khaimah’s objectives to establish itself as a premier sustainable tourism destination, targeting a record 3.5 million visitors annually by 2030, following an impressive reception of 650,000 visitors in the first half of 2025.
