Baguio City Launches Electric Transport Initiative
The new electric shuttle service aims to alleviate traffic and lower carbon emissions in Baguio.
A new electric vehicle (EV) shuttle system introduced in the northern Philippine city of Baguio is poised to ease traffic, reduce emissions, and provide free transport for residents, workers, and tourists at Camp John Hay. This service, named the John Hay Loop, will operate three EV units, each capable of carrying 31 passengers, running from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., with departures every 5 to 10 minutes.
The primary route includes significant stops such as the Main Gate, Scout Hill, Mile Hi, South Drive, Outlook Drive, and Forest Lodge.

Free rides will be provided for six months as part of a pilot run, integrating a mobility project by BCDA, John Hay Management Corporation, and private partners from Korea and the Cordillera transport sector.
Powered by lithium-ion batteries, the shuttle units recharge in less than 90 minutes and can accommodate nearly 4,000 individuals within the estate, catering to eco-conscious travelers.
BCDA President and CEO Joshua Bingcang stated that this initiative is a step forward in Baguio’s commitment to sustainable transport, setting a standard for greener mobility across tourism estates nationwide.
