The 2025 ASEAN-Oriented Cultural Exchange and Cooperation Forum
The 2025 ASEAN-Oriented Cultural Exchange and Cooperation Forum took place in Liuzhou, Guangxi, China on August 18, 2025. This year’s discussions revolved around Museums and Future of Cities, organized by the Bureau of International Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China alongside the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
The event highlighted the importance of cultural exchanges between China and ASEAN, focusing on two main themes:
- Conservation of Industrial Heritage and Innovative Urban Tourism Experiences
- Integration of Digital Technologies and Museums for In-depth Development
The forum included keynote speeches and presentations from 18 experts across ASEAN countries and China, addressing cultural policy, heritage management, and research trends.
A significant result of this forum was the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Asia-Pacific Alliance of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and the Liuzhou Industrial Museum on cooperative research regarding industrial heritage conservation and sustainable development.
Attendees also engaged in cultural site visits to locations such as the Baili Liujiang River Scenic Area and the Liuzhou Industrial Museum, reinforcing tourism cooperation and cultural exchange efforts throughout the region.
