Nattachit Oonsiam Appointed as New Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand in Mumbai

Nattachit Oonsiam takes on the role of Director at the Tourism Authority of Thailand's Mumbai office, focusing on strengthening tourism ties between Thailand and India.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has appointed Nattachit Oonsiam as the new Director of its Mumbai Office, where he will lead destination marketing efforts and deepen trade and media partnerships across Western and Southern India, a crucial source region for inbound tourism to Thailand.

A senior professional with nearly two decades at TAT, Oonsiam has extensive experience in regional strategy, international marketing, and stakeholder engagement. Prior to this position, he directed the ASEAN, South Asia, and South Pacific Marketing Division, managing tourism promotion across key markets like India and Australia.

Oonsiam began his journey with TAT in 2007 as Secretary to the Governor, contributing to high-level operations and inter-agency coordination. His diverse roles have provided him insight into various traveler profiles and market dynamics.

On his new role, Oonsiam commented: “Thailand and India share cultural and emotional ties, fostering an appetite for authentic travel experiences. I aim to strengthen these bonds through collaboration with travel agents, media, airlines, and influencers in Western and Southern India, presenting Thailand in new, compelling ways to both new and returning visitors.”

As Director, he will spearhead Thailand’s promotional efforts within vital markets like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, focusing on destination diversification, digital initiatives, and enhancing visibility in niche tourism segments including luxury, wellness, weddings, culinary, and family travel.

This appointment aligns with Thailand’s strategy to attract high-quality Indian travelers, leading to enhanced connectivity and tailored travel experiences. With India being a top market for Thailand, Oonsiam’s leadership is expected to be pivotal in fostering growth and collaboration.
