Riyadh Air, the new national carrier of Saudi Arabia, has signed a global distribution agreement with Amadeus, a prominent technology provider in the travel sector. This strategic collaboration is set to grant Riyadh Air access to one of the largest global networks of travel sellers, closely aligning with the airline’s expansion plans and the Kingdom’s broader transformation initiatives under Vision 2030.
By integrating with the Amadeus Travel Platform, Riyadh Air will reach travel agencies in over 190 countries, making its offerings available to travelers around the globe. This move is pivotal for boosting tourism in Saudi Arabia and positioning the Kingdom as a leading global aviation and tourism hub.
Vincent Coste, Chief Commercial Officer at Riyadh Air, expressed his enthusiasm:
“Our mission is to create a truly world-class airline that reflects the ambition of Saudi Arabia. Partnering with Amadeus gives us the global reach, distribution power, and retailing capabilities needed to support our goal of flying to over 100 destinations by 2030.”
This partnership aims not only to enhance travel experiences but also to contribute to the national vision aimed at economic diversification, growth in tourism, and improved global connectivity.
Amadeus will also distribute Riyadh Air’s future NDC (New Distribution Capability) content, enabling the airline to provide personalized offers to travelers while maintaining control over its indirect sales strategy. Maher Koubaa, Executive Vice President at Amadeus, commented:
“The launch of Riyadh Air represents a major milestone for the Kingdom’s aviation industry, and we are proud to be their trusted technology partner.”
Backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and announced by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Riyadh Air is poised to significantly contribute to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy, stimulate investment in tourism, and facilitate the development of a competitive aviation sector. The airline is forecast to add over $20 billion to the Kingdom’s non-oil GDP and create over 200,000 jobs.
