Emirates Introduces New Power Bank Safety Measures for Passengers

Emirates has updated its regulations on the use of power banks onboard its flights, prohibiting all forms of usage effective October 1, 2025.

New Regulations for Power Banks on Emirates Flights

Emirates has implemented new rules regarding the use of power banks aboard its flights, starting from October 1, 2025. All forms of usage of power banks are now prohibited in the aircraft cabin. However, passengers are still allowed to bring one power bank under the following conditions:

  • Power banks must not exceed 100 Watt Hours.
  • They cannot be used to charge any devices during the flight.
  • Charging power banks using the aircraft’s power supply is not allowed.
  • Power banks must have their capacity rating information accessible.
  • They should be stored in the seat pocket or under the seat, rather than the overhead stowage.
  • They are not permitted in checked luggage (this rule remains unchanged).

Why Change?

This decision follows a thorough safety review aimed at mitigating risks associated with power bank incidents, particularly those involving lithium batteries, which have been increasing in frequency across the aviation industry. Emirates is committed to ensuring passenger safety by implementing these necessary restrictions.
