AirAsia X Launches a New Direct Route
AirAsia X (AAX), recognized as the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline, announces its entry into Uzbekistan with the launch of a new direct service connecting Tashkent and Kuala Lumpur, which is set to begin on October 15, 2025. This route will operate three flights weekly and is part of AAX’s efforts to strengthen connectivity between emerging Central Asian markets and its extensive network of over 130 destinations via its Fly-Thru hub in Kuala Lumpur.
The timely launch coincides with Uzbekistan’s goal of attracting 15.8 million foreign visitors in 2025. This new direct flight is poised to enhance travel between Southeast Asia and Uzbekistan, allowing more South-East Asian tourists to visit while giving Uzbeks improved access to diverse destinations in Asia, Australia, and beyond.
Benyamin Ismail, CEO of AirAsia X, stated: “Our mission has always been to make medium-haul travel more accessible and affordable. We are thrilled to extend our services to Uzbekistan and believe this route will bring significant travel opportunities for both Uzbek and Southeast Asian passengers.”
In addition, Dr. Mukhtaramin Bekzod, Chairman of AA Aviation Management Group, mentioned, “We trust that this service will meet the needs of Uzbek travelers for affordable and convenient flights to a wider array of destinations.”
Promotional fares from Tashkent to Kuala Lumpur will start at UZS2,719,000 (about USD199) for a one-way ticket, with discounts of up to 20% available for bookings made until August 3, 2025, for travel from October 15 to December 15, 2025.
